Patrick Mahomes posted a video of his rehab process after suffering a season-ending leg injury in December 2025
Patrick Mahomes gave Kansas City Chiefs fans plenty of reason to be optimistic with a video from his offseason rehab program. Mahomes, 30, shared a clip of his workout via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, March 25, showing the quarterback moving with relative ease just over three months after suffering a season-ending torn ACL and LCL in his left leg.
The Chiefs shared the clip on Instagram with the caption: “QB1 back in the lab 👀.” Mahomes underwent surgery shortly after suffering the injury, which came in the Chiefs' game against the Los Angeles Chargers on December 14. “Rehab is going great so far,” Mahomes said during a virtual press conference on January 15. “I’m hitting all the checkpoints that the doctor wants you to do. Getting the strength and range of mobility back. So that’s been going great. Been doing all of it here in Kansas City so far.”“The doctors said that I could be,” he added. “I can’t predict what’s going to happen throughout the process, but that’s my goal. I’ll try to prepare myself to be ready to play in that Week 1 and have no restrictions.” While the Chiefs' official schedule has not been released, the NFL season kicks off on September 9, with Kansas City expected to play their first game on September 13. Mahomes said he hopes to be able to participate in offseason activities and training camp, at least in some capacity. “I have to take it slow, but at the same time I’ll push to be out there as much as I can be,” Mahomes said. “We have a great plan in place as far as where we want to get to. We have to let it all play out and take it a day at a time, which has been hard for me.” While Mahomes vowed to challenge himself to return as quickly as possible, he also acknowledged the “balance” of keeping things in perspective. “That’s something that I have to think of, something the coaches and the organization all have to think of,” he explained. “But at the same time, that’s why they give me limits to where I can push it. … Knowing me, I’m going to push it to that exact limit every single day. There’s places you can’t go yet, which I want to but I can’t go yet.”
