WOW was a bold experiment, but it was done in by the hard realities of airline operations: costs are high, margins are low and competitors are hostile.
While working to address financing, WOW Air also cut back on routes and reduced its fleet of aircraft. All of these efforts failed.
In the letter to employees, Mogensen reminisced about the bold ambitions of the low-cost transatlantic carrier, boasting its pioneering spirit, and thanked employees for their efforts. Mogensen also thanked customers and partners who believed in the airline."We all tried our best to the end," he wrote.
“I hope and trust that you will never forget the WOW spirit and that you take it with you in your next adventure,” Mogensen said in closing.While there was certainly plenty of ambition, optimism, and hope for WOW, the hard realities of airline operations are that costs are high, margins are low, and competitors are hostile.
