The incident was triggered after authorities deemed Qantas flight 487 from Sydney to Melbourne an 'unscreened aircraft' because one passenger was not screened properly.
The issue was discovered when the plane was in mid air and when it landed at Melbourne Airport, the aircraft's captain informed passengers.More than 200 Qantas passengers had to be escorted from a flight at Melbourne Airport after a security screening issue. About 200 travellers were then escorted from the plane by the Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police and security staff to be rescreened.
No one was allowed to leave their escorts, not even to the bathroom, until they had been screened properly.Officers from the Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police and airport security escorted the passengers from the plane.Sydney Airport and Qantas have been contacted for comment by 9News.
