After taking three ward seats in May, One Kearsley founder and leader Paul Heslop has quit
It's been a turbulent week for one Greater Manchester council after the resignation of a party leader, which then saw two of his colleagues cross the floor to join Labour.
Paul Heslop was originally a founding member of Farnworth and Kearsley First in 2017 before quitting in 2020 and founding One Kearsley. At that time he said he had been ‘at odds’ with senior members of the group and was ‘struggling’ with the party’s direction. After May’s election, One Kearsley gave support to the current Labour group to set up a minority administration and take control of the council. Council leader Nick Peel, said: “A huge welcome to the Labour group to Debbie Newall and Melanie Livesey . “You will make our group even stronger.
