Officials have closed a 670-acre section of Guadalupe River State Park after someone damaged an entrance gate over the holiday weekend.
Guadalupe River State Park officials say they are closing a section of the park after someone vandalized a gate over the weekend. On Sunday, the state park announced on Facebook that it was closing its Bauer Unit — a 670-acre portion of the park, north of the river — after “recent incidents of vandalism” left an entrance gate damaged. The area will be closed to visitors until the gate is repaired.
Scary fish with human-like teeth found in Texas lake Brandon Lopes-Baca, the park superintendent, said in a phone interview that he expected the gate to be repaired in coming weeks after the park can access its funding for the new fiscal year, which started Sept. 1. The park, which is north of Bulverde, is run by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The gate was damaged during the morning of Sept. 1, he said.
