The recent closing of three district buildings finds Parma City Schools moving specialized programs P.A.C.T.S (Parma Area Center for Transition Services) and A.C.E.S. Center for Education to the former Parma Park Elementary School.
“We’re excited to use Parma Park in a new manner as we operate our specialized programs this year,” Parma City Schools Superintendent Charles Smialek said.
The initiative is focused on getting students into the community functioning daily living activities in an effort to help them become as independent as possible. To accommodate the transition, the district updated the Parma Park building adding AC units, sensory rooms and ADA-accessible facilities. “Really, it’s an opportunity to specialize in instruction and the curriculum that’s going to be most beneficial for them so we can work more directly with the staff to accommodate their needs, really challenge them and help them grow.”
