Julian Wood was with his mother, Margot, 37, when they were attacked on June 3.

Published: Oct. 16, 2024 at 8:21 AM EDTCLEVELAND, Ohio - The mother and father of a child stabbed to death in a Giant Eagle parking lot have filed a lawsuit in federal court against the grocery store giant over lack of security.

On June 3rd, 2024, despite a previous fatal shooting of an employee inside the North Olmsted grocery store, the Giant Eagle location had removed security. Julian Wood, 3, was in the grocery store parking with his mother Margot Wood, when Bionca Ellis reportedly “walked into the supermarket while brandishing a ten-inch knife, proceeded to follow Margot and her three-year-old son, Julian Wood, into the parking lot, and stabbed Julian Wood in the face and back” court records detailed.Ellis fled the scene and was arrested in the area by police.

The complaint filed Tuesday claimed that based on information and belief, if Giant Eagle employees had been properly monitoring the surveillance cameras inside the grocery store, its employees would have been able to see Bionca Ellis openly wielding a large knife inside and around the grocery store.
