State senator and 2026 election candidate Shelley Hughes, R-Palmer, announced her time in the state legislature was over at a press event Thursday.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska State Sen. Shelley Hughes will resign Friday to focus full-time on her 2026 gubernatorial campaign, becoming the second legislator to leave office early for the governor’s race.
