KOTA KINABALU: A Pakistani businessman was slapped with a native customary fine of eight buffaloes and eight gongs for insulting the Kadazandusun Murut Rungus (KDMR) community at the Kota Marudu Native Court Tuesday (July 21).
The court’s district chief Datuk Baintin Adun, who presided over the trial, said Amir Ali Khan Nawatay was found guilty of six offences in the viral voice recording where he insulted the KDMR community of Kota Marudu.
Previously, a complaint was filed with the court by a citizen on June 9 for the viral audio recording that angered the native communities in Kota Marudu. Baintin said among the offences found in the audio clip were making threats, using foul language, and inciting the anger of the community.
