Supervisor Ahsha Safai speaks at a press conference at City Hall announcing new legislation that would expand community policing in San Francisco neighborhoods.
“Every day, San Franciscans talk about the crime that they’re experiencing in The City, and what we’re missing is leadership,” Safai said. “We want officers in the area of The City in every police precinct where crime is happening,” Safai said at a rally to generate support for his bill on Tuesday. “Every single police precinct will have a foot and bike patrol strategy to put officers back out on the streets.”
Supervisor Hillary Ronen, joining Safai at a Tuesday press conference to announce the legislation, acknowledged supervisors’ Sisyphean efforts to legislatively force a community policing model.
