Padres begin Wednesday in possession of NL's second wild-card spot, but they are also 215-219 since Aug. 10, 2021
The National League’s winningest road team has lost three in a row on the road, including two at the home of the majors’ worst home team. In fact, the Angels hadn’t won back-to-back games at home all season until taking the first two games of this series. Now they are looking to hand the Padres their third losing sweep of the season.
For the series finale, Luis Arraez is returning to first base for the first time since exiting Sunday’s game with a shoulder/neck injury. He was 0-for-4 and hit by a pitch on Tuesday as the designated hitter. Manny Machado is at third base and batting third, Jake Cronenworth is the cleanup hitter and second baseman and David Peralta will serve as the DH. Also, Luis Campusano will bat ninth for the second straight game. He is 0-for-26 since his last hit on May 22.
