This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. The final season of Outlander is bringing back one of its original stars years after his last appearance on the series.
The long-running historical drama recently revealed that Tobias Menzies' Frank Randall has returned in Outlander season 8. In an interview with TV Insider, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and star Sam Hueghan explained how the unexpected comeback came together. Read his comments below: HEUGHAN: It’s interesting because he’s fought so many different kinds of enemies over the seasons, and this one is no exception… but also this one really is perhaps the one that really gets to him, it creates a rift for Jamie and Claire, because he dwells on it. ROBERTS: We had hoped to get Tobias physically, but he was very busy, and his schedule was full, but he graciously was able to do some voice work for us. Jamie knows what Black Jack’s voice sounds like, and… so I think that’s what we went with, and it does haunt him that he’s looking at this person that tortured him, and Claire could have possibly married this person. Outlander follows a married nurse from the mid-1940s who is transported to 18th-century Scotland. As she confronts unfamiliar customs and constant danger, she is torn between survival, loyalty, and a burgeoning romance, challenging her ability to balance two disparate lives.
