The spread and impact of this virus is hard to imagine. The word unprecedented has been used time and again over the past two months to reflect the nature of the health crisis.

However, under the national lockdown imposed by President Cyril Ramaphosa more than two months ago, the journey has not been easy for South Africans. From business closures to job losses and income reductions, it has been a trying time for most households. We are seeing these emotional responses playing out as the lockdown continues. Currently, there are spates of irritation and agitation across the board as people call for less stringent restrictions.

With businesses, government and non-governmental organisations collaborating, we will see solutions come to the fore. Adequate communication has already assisted the world to keep abreast of the pandemic by learning from other countries.
