FootballFever | Danny Jordaan must resign – Dennis Mumble | Dossier of Safa boss’ former right-hand man makes several astonishing claims.

Danny Jordaan’s former right-hand man Dennis Mumble has accused the president of Safa of being a dictator, a bully and a control freak who used the association’s money to fight personal battles, sign off deals and sideline former chief executives.

“I trust that you will objectively examine my submission as I outline, in some detail, how my tenure was beset with difficulties occasioned by a president who would stop at nothing to act as executive president and violate almost every principle of good governance,” wrote Mumble in the letter dated May 10.“He [Jordaan] must resign and the NEC must deal with him. They must call a special congress and call for his removal,” said Mumble this week.

In a statement yesterday, Safa said the purchase of Fun Valley was approved unanimously by the NEC and the Legacy Trust. Safa said it jointly managed the centre with Fifa, which owned 60%. Safa had 40%. In its response yesterday, Safa said the Siyaya contract presented an opportunity for the first black company to be involved in sports broadcasting: “It is on this basis, and the huge benefit projected, that Safa engaged and signed the contract. We therefore agreed with Siyaya that they will cede their Safa free-to-air rights to the SABC.

“At the time of my departure on August 31 2018, [auditors] PwC had not yet reported the results of their audit for the year and I could therefore not interrogate the final statement as I had always done. “On our return to South Africa, Dr Jordaan met Safa vice-presidents Lucas Nhlapo and Elvis Shishana, who asked to be briefed on the outcomes of the US trip.
