Christina Murguia was an outstanding athlete - but in three other sports

Christina Murguia was one of the most decorated high school athletes ever in San Diego Section history. She was the first to earn four letters in basketball, volleyball and softball while attending Castle Park High

She leaned on veteran South Bay lacrosse coach Chris Kryjewski and did have one advantage. There to assist her was Division 2 University of the District of Columbia signee Keliah Tucker, one of just four returning players. “The trouble was only four had any real experience, so looking back on the way coaches treated me, I knew I had to make it fun. The thing is, it’s a wonderful group of kids, and I was lucky because one of the players’ dads I knew through my daughter agreed by my assistant. I couldn’t have done it without ‘coach Rooch’ .”

Instead, she has eager players who are quickly learning things like how to run full speed while cradling the ball in the lacrosse stick and then passing to open teammates. Things that only get comfortable with practice.
