INSIDER NEWSLETTER:Nine years ago, Pesak moved to Columbus, Texas, to become a welding instructor at the high school. Pesak was curious about the opportunities available to students who were so far from the Houston metro area.
“After the first year and people see the potential and the pride that the kids have in those communities, it becomes an annual event,” Pesak said. “You can only do what you've seen or what you have seen someone else do,” he said. “Like if my mother was a librarian, there's a good chance I'd be in education or be a librarian. If my dad was a doctor, there's a good reason that he might want me to follow because that's what I've actively seen.
The welding series isn’t just built around competition, but also teaches welding skills to students at its other community events throughout the year. The series hosts over 15 events each year, offering training to prepare students for the trade
