My path to entrepreneurship was truly inspired by creating opportunity for my sons. As a mother to three Black men, I wanted to pave the way for their future success by ensuring a path to college. …

I started by selling at local farmers markets in San Diego. It was at one of these local markets where I met a business development officer from Accessity, a nonprofit community development financial institution that empowers entrepreneurs by providing small business loans up to $100,000, along with a community of support and resources throughout Southern California. The officer told me about its loan program and services.

I’m passionate about giving back to my community, hiring from marginalized groups, mentoring budding entrepreneurs and offering opportunities for kitchen rentals to women-owned businesses. I’m a participating business in Junior Achievement and the San Marcos Boys & Girls Club’s internship and mentorship programs, where we host eight to 10 interns per year.

With each success, I feel a deep-rooted responsibility to help others.
