KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili has received unanimous support to continue leading Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) during the party's supreme council meeting on Friday (Jan 20).
Ongkili, who won the post unopposed during party elections in June last year, had said then that he would be stepping down as party president within three years.
In a statement issued after chairing the meeting here on Friday , Ongkili said he would stick to the original plan of relinquishing the presidency within three years, or"as determined by the supreme council". "Although I have announced I would step down by the next election year, supreme council members voted for me to stay.Ongkili added that there are many young leaders within the party who are capable of taking the party to greater heights.
