It's the last week before children start returning to school
A supermarket has remained the cheapest out of six for the same eight staple items for the third week running as families head closer to the return to school.
It’s been Lidl that has come out on top on most weeks, but there was major change three weeks ago when Aldi pipped them to the post after Lidl upped their cost of basic white bread by a couple of pennies. It’s now the first time since January last year where Aldi have been able to retain the top spot for more than two weeks. This week’s prices mostly remain the same as last week, with a basket at Aldi coming to £12.02 - beating Lidl by one mere penny.
