There are good transport links while remaining quiet and rural

"If you walk into The Red Lion with a problem and walk out still with that problem, then you spoke to the wrong person," said one resident passionate about his village.

Clearly passionate about Wheelton, the place he decided to call home, Henry tells us all about the area and the people who make it what it is. He says he worries about the proposition of new houses being built in the village, causing further disruption to traffic and to children walking to and from local schools.

"There's a brook under this main road and on one side you're in Wheelton, but the other side it's Heapey," 51-year-old Alison explained. "So if you're in The Red Lion, you can be stood at the bar in Wheelton and by the fireplace in Heapey. However, Alison says the number of vehicles in the village double in the evening, once people have returned from work, making it "horrific" to park. Despite this issue though, it's clear village life is a happy one, particularly with the breathtaking views afforded to those that live within the walls.
