Figures gathered from around the country show drivers in New South Wales racked-up the highest number of speeding fines of any state or territory in 2022. 7NEWS

The statistics were sourced from state government transport bodies, road groups, tables and police, and compiled by 7NEWS.com.au.

Queensland drivers were fined more than 578,000 times for travelling between 1km/h and 10km/h over the posted limit and West Australians racked up 546,739 fines for being snapped by a camera at up to 9km/h over. WA Police State Traffic Operations Inspector Andrew Wilson said while authorities show some discretion, he would not say how many kilometres per hour worth of leniency is afforded to speeding drivers.

He said Liberal Senator Claire Chandler criticised Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley for “trying to prevent the world bodies from protecting women’s competitions”. “As the Senator points out, all this deference to diversity and inclusion, if it pits biological males against girls and women, well then it doesn’t allow for the simple right, the very important inclusion, of women in sport,” Mr Kenny said.
