Ohio State women's hockey will host first and second round games after earning the NCAA tournament's No. 1 seed.
The Ohio State women’s hockey will enter the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and is hosting first and second round games as a result.
The Buckeyes face the winner of Thursday's regional semifinal between Quinnipiac and Syracuse at 5 p.m. Saturday. OSU's seeding is due in part to their 3-2 overtime win over Minnesota Sunday in the WCHA Final Faceoff championship, in which Ohio State scored the game's final three goals. The first of those came 3:34 into the third period, when senior Sara Saekkinen scored. A little less than eight minutes later, Sophie Jaques tied the game at 2.
Jaques, the WCHA Defender of the Year, also scored the game-winner 20 seconds into overtime, shooting the puck then pouncing on her own rebound before being piled on by celebrating teammates.
