Ohio State's season could have swung one way when it hosted Michigan State on Thursday night, but the Buckeyes reclaimed momentum on short rest.
. It doesn’t guarantee anything in Sunday’s game against the Wolverines, but it did validate what sixth-year center Joey Brunk preached to his teammates as they addressed each other Tuesday night.
Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann said that while the film session breaking down the Nebraska loss wasn’t pleasant, it did show things weren’t as bad as they might have seemed. As the Buckeyes struggled to keep Nebraska’s guards in front of them, those frustrations bled to the offensive end of the court and led to a number of players overthinking their offensive options.
“It was an important film session for us ,” Holtmann said. “I didn’t think we trusted the pass offensively at all. I didn’t think we trusted each other defensively and didn’t think we were connected defensively much of the game at all. We weren’t in a good frame of mind, but also, we were also playing a team playing really well. We had to have some internal conversations about things we needed to do better.
Thursday night, third-year forward and team captain E.J. Liddell repeatedly focused on what he perceived as a better overall connectiveness between the players in the bounce-back performance.
