Jon Leissler was accused by his former employer of a $4.1 million theft, spent on personal goods and his Senate campaign.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Summit County Republican who lost his state Senate election this month has been sued by his now-former employer, alleging he stolelast week claiming Jon Leissler used his position as chief financial officer of 3B Holdings in Cleveland to steal from the company and cover his tracks. They say his authorized salary and bonuses by year were $106,000, $171,000 and $155,000 . Instead, he took home $354,000, $748,000, and $2.3 million.
But much of the information, as 3B’s lawyers describe it, comes from Leissler himself in a candid admission. CEO Leonard Bashkin claimed in an affidavit that on Nov. 5, which was Election Day, he confronted Leissler at his Stow home and fired him and seized his company laptop. The next day, Leissler and his attorney, according to Bashkin, admitted to stealing $4.1 million from 3B in specific and seemingly incriminating detail.
Summit County Common Pleas Judge Kathryn Michael sided with 3B in an early ruling, granting the company’s an attachment of different pieces of property Leissler bought with the allegedly stolen funds.
