Ohio speech-language therapist Alexa Stakely killed trying to save her sleeping 6-year-old son from carjackers who swiped her Honda SUV in suburban Columbus.
An Ohio mom who jumped in front of her own car in an effort to save her sleeping 6-year-old son from carjackers died Thursday after the thieves sent her flying onto the pavement. Alexa Stakely, 29, was picking up her son from his babysitter's condo at 6300 Blue Knoll Drive in Canal Winchester when she put him in a car seat and went back inside to grab some of his stuff around 1:30 a.m., according to city police.
She was a great mom who was incredibly dedicated to her son,' school officials said in a statement posted to the district's website 'Ms. Stakely made a difference in the lives of the students and families she worked with and will be missed by so many in our community and beyond.' Police are asking anyone with information on the suspects to call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
