Ohio Contemporary Ballet, formerly known as Verb Ballets, presents past and present works that highlight their distinct style and push contemporary boundaries.

The program includes “Light Rain” by Gerald Arpino, choreographer, and co-founder of the Joffrey Ballet. “Light Rain” was created to highlight the youthful energy and talent of the Joffrey’s newest dancers. The score blends Eastern and Western music, while the performance explores young love through sensual and athletic choreography.takes audiences through a story of shared emotions and connections, according to the press release. It highlights the importance of human connection.

“Dark Matter” was commissioned by Ohio Contemporary Ballet in 2013 and returns in 2025. Choreographer Tommie-Waheed Evans, a queer Black dance maker, develops works that explore themes of blackness, spirituality, and liberation.
