People living in Ohio City are having a meeting Tuesday evening to question the newly installed paid parking meters all around the neighborhood.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ohio City is one of Cleveland’s most attractive neighborhoods with new businesses and restaurants constantly popping up and for the most part street parking in Ohio City is free but that is about to change.Matthew Moss is the Manager of Strategic Planning Initiatives with the Cleveland City Planning Commission.
It will eventually affect other busy streets like Detroit Avenue where Dewitt Collins works at Saucy Brew WorksIf there aren’t already meters, you’ll pay via your smartphone. You can park for up to 2 hours and it costs 50 cents per hour plus a credit card fee. You can also call or text to pay.“It’s a little ridiculous,” said Evan Zorn who lives on Detroit Avenue and depends on street parking. “It’s really unfortunate. We pay a lot for rent here and it’s already really hard to find parking spots.
Real estate developer and Managing Principal of Places Development Dan Whalen thinks paid parking will be a good thing for local businesses.
