Ohio faces a cold weather advisory with wind chills as low as -15. Today is very cold, with scattered light snow/mix showers on Wednesday. Frigid temperatures return later in the week with potential for snow this weekend. Models indicate a winter storm may impact the southern US and potentially Ohio.

Very cold today, then scattered light snow/mix showers on Wednesday. Frigid temps return later this week, and keep an eye on the potential for more weekend snow.FRIDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy, very cold, high 20.

SUNDAY: Cloudy, snow showers mainly south, very cold, high 20.Good Tuesday morning! It is a very cold start to the morning, and we have had some wind chills dip down to -15 already this morning in Central Ohio. Our temperatures are in the single digits, but the wind is making it feel colder. We will have sunshine and a few clouds today with a high of around 20. Wind chills will remain below zero through lunchtime, then single-digit wind chills for the afternoon. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10–15 mph. Increasing clouds tonight with a low temperature of 16.Wednesday will be a little wintry and wet with snow showers moving back in. They will be scattered during the day as we warm to a high of around 38, so some of the snow will be melting after it falls. Gusty winds tomorrow out of the southwest at 15–20+ mph will make it feel colder. Not much snow likely with this round, generally less than 1". Frigid air returns later this week, and it sticks around for the weekend. Thursday and Friday will be quiet and cold. Partly cloudy Thursday with a high around 32. Increasing clouds Friday with a high of around 20. Morning low temps will be in the mid-20s Thursday morning, then teens Friday morning. We have the potential for some accumulating snow this weekend, but there is still uncertainty with the track, timing and snowfall totals for Ohio. The models have been in good agreement on a developing winter storm Saturday and Sunday moving across the southern United States. Within the last 24 hours, forecast models have shifted that system north 50–100 miles, depending on the model. This means southern Ohio will likely get some snow with this weekend's system, but we’re still not sure how much snow will make it into Central or northern Ohio. Before we dive into more on the snow, let’s focus on what the models agree on: frigid temps. All the models agree that we will have light and fluffy snow because it will be so cold. Saturday will only have a high of around 15, then around 20 on Sunday and Monday. Morning temps will be in the single digits, so wind chills will once again be below zero.As for the snow, timing also varies between the models because a couple are focusing more on Saturday and Saturday night, while another has shifted more into Sunday. Stay tuned as we get closer to the weekend and get a better handle on the system. In the meantime, be prepared to get the snow shovel ready, especially if you live in southern Ohio.
