New York City Schools Chancellor David Banks's resignation marks the fourth departure of a high-ranking city official this month.

Banks, who was appointed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams in 2022, will resign on Dec. 31. The mayor said in a statement Tuesday he is "immensely grateful and proud" of the work accomplished by Banks, pointing to improved test scores and graduation rates. FBI agents earlier this month raided Banks's home, as well as the the homes of Adams deputies Sheena Wright and Phil Banks.I don’t think it’s gonna color my job. Number one, I’m not distracted by this at all," the chancellor told reporters.
