This confrontation comes as approximately 600,000 students are set to return to in-person learning next week for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic shut schools down back in March.that they are not threatening to strike and will report to schools on Tuesday. New York’s school reopening plan has been besieged by delays and controversy for weeks, making it an uncomfortable example of how a return to in-person teaching may proceed for other large cities, such as Washington D.C and Los Angeles, that have yet to reopen their doors.Tens of thousands of city teachers have been reporting to school buildings since Sept. 8, even though in-person classes haven't yet begun for most students.
