NSW Finance Minister Courtney Houssos has slapped a temporary suspension on the embattled accounting firm as a government tax consultant

PwC has been suspended from advising the NSW government on tax matters and will be forced to disclose whether any of its staff dealing with the government have breached confidentiality rules or misused information, under a suite of new measures tightening procurement rules in the state.Finance Minister Courtney Houssos says the NSW government will reduce spending on consultants.

“Prior to the election, we pledged to overhaul the NSW Government’s rules on hiring consultants, toughen up measures that protect against conflicts of interest, and reduce spending on consultants and labour hire workers, so those funds can be reinvested into essential services.” The temporary ban applies to the “Type 7 – Taxation” category of the state government’s “performance and management services” scheme which is a database of 3500 approved government suppliers.
