The National Security Council and the Department of National Defense sees no imminent threat from China despite Senator Imee Marcos ' claim Beijing has aimed hypersonic missile s at military installations in the Philippines.
But when the senator was asked for the basis of her information, Marcos said: “Nakita ko lang sa isang report at mukha siyang reliable, pagkat yung mga tinutumbok niya ay yung mga EDCA sites.” Marcos said she has not spoken to her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., regarding the matter. Meanwhile, maritime law expert Jay Batongbacal said that the senator’s statements are merely speculations without factual basis, unless she has unrestricted access to China’s war plans.
