Retired Supreme Court Senior Justice Antonio Carpio, a leading authority on the West Philippine Sea, has been delivering a series of lectures titled “Philippine Island Territories in the West Philippine Sea.” In his lectures, Carpio presents a compelling case for the Philippines’ claims to the Spratly Islands. He uses maps, historical treaties, and even China’s own documents and publications to demonstrate the lack of foundation for China’s claims and the strength of the Philippines’ position.
