Novo Nordisk's Ozempic drug gets FDA OK for 2 mg dose to treat Type-2 Diabetes

Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk AS said late Monday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a 2.0 milligram dose of its Ozempic drug to treat adults with type 2 diabetes.

Ozempic is now approved in the U.S. at 0.5 milligram, 1.0 milligram and 2.0 milligram doses for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults, it added. In addition, Ozempic is indicated to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease, the company said.Ozempic 2.0 milligram is now approved in the U.S., the EU, Canada and Switzerland.
