For the third time in less than a year, millions of people took to the streets nationwide for “No Kings” protests against the Trump administration, as demonstrations unfolded amid a military conflict, rising gas prices and a partial government shutdown.
Seattle was among the cities where crowds turned out in large numbers, with tens of thousands marching through downtown. Some gathered near the Space Needle, while others moved down Fifth Avenue in a stream that shut down several streets on Saturday. The Seattle “No Kings” protest began at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill and ended near Seattle Center, part of thousands of similar demonstrations across the country opposing President Donald Trump and his administration.Music played as speakers addressed the crowd, including Washington state Attorney Nick Brown. “It’s very cathartic to be with like-minded people who understand how insane the world is, and want to do something about it,” a protester told KOMO News. Protesters carried homemade signs criticizing the president and highlighting issues including immigration enforcement and the war in Iran, along with broader anger toward Washington, D.C. “The autocracy, the fact that Congress isn't doing what they're elected to do,” a protester told KOMO News. “I mean, support getting rid of a really terrible government,” another protester told KOMO News. “Just look around at all the signs — it's just killing everybody.” Some said the protests were meant to build momentum, while others described them as one of the few ways to act in a world that can feel out of control. “I know what's really important is for us to get out and vote,” another protester told KOMO News. “That's the one thing that's going to finally going to make a change.”A new study published in the journal Environmental Pollution found traces of pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs in several shark species.1 dead in Renton-area shooting; Major Crimes Unit investigating One person is dead following a shooting on Friday afternoon in the Renton area, the King County Sheriff's Office confirmed.A central Washington physician was sentenced Wednesday to just over a year in federal prison for altering recalled breathing devices and billing Medicaid for th
