Nneka Ogwumike is set to return to the Seattle Storm for another season, according to an announcement made by her sister, Chiney Ogwumike, on ESPN Friday night. Chiney, who is an ESPN basketball analyst, shared the news on air, stating, 'She wants me to break the news, so I'm going to do it. Nine-time WNBA All-Star, WNBA champion, and president of the Players' Association, Nneka Ogwumike is re-signing with the Seattle Storm .
' The 34-year-old Ogwumike just completed her first season with the Storm after spending 12 seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks. Last year, she averaged 16.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game for Seattle, playing nearly 32 minutes a night and earning second-team All-WNBA honors. The Storm have undergone significant roster changes following their 2020 championship. Sue Bird retired after the 2022 season, and Breanna Stewart signed with the New York Liberty. The recent trade of Jewell Loyd to the Las Vegas Aces marks the final departure from that championship team. The Storm acquired the No. 2 overall pick in the draft in the Loyd deal, which is expected to help the team find a potential impact player for the future.WNBA free agents can officially sign contracts with new teams starting on Saturday.
