The former South Carolina governor, 51, who had been trailing DeSantis, 44, in the Granite State, tied with the Sunshine State gov at 10% apiece among New Hampshire’s likely GOP primary voters in the new New Hampshire is considered key for GOP presidential candidates because early next year, it will hold the party’s first official primary — with the results typically helping to make or break campaigns.
No other contender was able to broach double digits in the poll in New Hampshire, which will host the second Republican primary contest overall, after the Iowa Caucus.Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy each clinched 8% in support in the latest state poll of GOPers.
The poll comes after the first debate Aug. 23 between all the candidates except Trump, who balked at attending.
