PETALING JAYA: The New Yort Time akhbar berpengaruh di Amerika Syarikat mengarahkan wartawannya supaya tidak menggunakan perkataan “pembunuhan beramai-ramai,” “wilayah yang diduduki,” “pelarian” antara lain perkataan negatif dalam artikel mereka mengenai pencerobohan Israel ke atas Gaza.
Memo itu, yang ditulis oleh editor, Susan Wessling; editor antarabangsa Philip Pan, dan timbalan mereka, pertama kali diedarkan pada November 2023 dan telah dikemas kini secara berkala di tengah-tengah pencerobohan berterusan Israel ke atas Gaza yang bermula Oktober lalu, The Intercept melaporkan pada hari Isnin.
Memo itu juga mengarahkan wartawan untuk mengelak daripada menggunakan “pejuang” merujuk kepada serangan tertentu, sebaliknya mencadangkan penggunaan “pengganas,” istilah yang digunakan oleh dokumen itu secara tidak konsisten, menurut analisis The Intercept, dengan menyatakan sikap berat sebelah NYT yang memihak kepada perspektif Israel mengenai perang.
