Alma Tequileria’s agave-based craft cocktails and a festive atmosphere are drawing crowds to the downtown hotspot.
Tequila is all the rage these days, and you can get a taste of why if you visit the newest bar at San Pedro Square Market in downtown San Jose. The agave-based craft cocktails served at Alma Tequileria are a far cry from the days when drinking tequila meant doing shots of Jose Cuervo with salt and lime.
While it’s been open for a few weeks now, Thursday was its official grand opening and it drew a diverse crowd, including a few residents of the Centerra apartment building across the street checking out the new neighbors.It has been a trying few years for the Chinese Performing Arts of America.
“An Ode to the Golden Tang” celebrates China’s Tang Dynasty, which ran from 618 to 907. CPAA Executive Director Lihong Zhang said the era was known for its booming economy, thriving arts and multicultural society. The show’s four parts celebrate the poetry, theater, dance and music of the period. “Our production is motivated by the rich arts and inclusive culture from the Tang dynasty,” she said.
The whole thing runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is parking available in the Civic Center parking lot, as well as at West Valley College’s Lot 4. It’s set for April 30 at the Guadalupe River Park’s Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose.
