The plant will operate a four-wide laminator capable of producing about 6 million squares of laminate shingles per year. “Owens Corning is a name known around the world, and I’m proud that this iconic company is planting roots in Prattville,” Gov.

Kay Ivey said in an announcement. “This major investment shows great confidence in Alabama’s workforce and in our state’s ability to support world-class manufacturing.” Toledo-based Owens Corning operates 150 facilities worldwide, with Prattville becoming its 17th asphalt roofing and components manufacturing facility in the U.S. “Our new Prattville facility will service our growing contractor network as we strengthen our U.S. manufacturing footprint,” Nico Del Monaco, Owens Corning Roofing President, said. “This is an attractive location to service our customers, with a dedicated workforce that takes pride in producing a quality product. We look forward to deepening our engagement with the local community.” The project is supported by a $4.9 million investment from the Growing Alabama program for improvements at Prattville’s South Industrial Park.Alabama Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair said the project demonstrates “Alabama’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing.” “Owens Corning’s decision to bring this innovative facility to Prattville reflects our state’s strong business climate and our commitment to supporting forward-looking companies with the infrastructure and workforce they need to succeed,” McNair said.
