UNION SPRINGS, Ala. – A famous author and an Oscar-winning actress have come together to help thrust a small Alabama city into the spotlight. Best selling author James Patterson and critically acclaimed actress Viola Davis co-wrote “Judge Stone.
”Patterson and Davis did their research so they could transport their readers into the city of Union Springs and specifically into the Bullock County Courthouse. “The thing about the book that gets right about Union Springs and the legal community is the way that we interact with people and what a big impact the legal community has on our entire community here in Union Springs,” said local attorney Christy Crow with Jinks Crow, P.C. “One of the things that I like about the book is in my experience with all the years I’ve practiced law in this courtroom, we talk about the law but it affects people. Real people that live here. This is their home and we all treat people with great respect,” said Attorney Lynn Jinks with Jinks Crow, P.C. Bullock County Probate Judge James Tatum tells Action 8 News that the novel really helps put a spotlight on the city. “Everyone that I’ve had a conversation with they’ve gone out and purchased a book or read it online so the whole community’s excited about it because its bringing us into a positive light; introduce us or reintroduce us to the nation and to the world,” said Judge Tatum. “Judge Stone” is in stores and online now. There is also an audiobook version available with Viola Davis as the narrator.
