Liverpool have suffered their first defeat under Arne Slot with the Reds losing ground on Manchester City and offering Arsenal the chance to leapfrog them
Arne Slot’s perfect start to the season ended abruptly on Saturday afternoon as Callum Hudson-Odoi’s goal saw Nottingham Forest subject Liverpool to their first defeat. The Reds failed to get going in the match and looked rather uninspired in attack. The defeat is compounded by Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Brentford, which means Liverpool are already playing catch-up to the champions, although title aspirations were always tempered for this season.
Their triumph over Brentford means they carry on their perfect start and are given an 88.5% chance of lifting the Premier League trophy come May. Liverpool’s odds of 39.4% are trumped by Arsenal’s 46.9%, with a win for the Gunners in Sunday’s North London Derby taking them above the Reds in the table. Slot could see his team slip down fourth or lower should results elsewhere this weekend go against them.
