Latest Nottingham Forest news as new Reds chairman Tom Cartledge outlines Premier League ambitions
Newly-appointed chairman Tom Cartledge believes Nottingham Forest shouldn’t limit their expectations of what might be possible, both this season and in the future.
Having ended a 23-year absence from the top-flight, Forest retained their Premier League status with a game to spare last term. Ever since then head coach Steve Cooper has talked about wanting to build on that platform and push on, while Marinakis had outlined his desire for trophies barely 24 hours after promotion had been achieved.
“I think in life possibilities are limited by your own capacity to break through those boundaries, so I don’t believe we should be sitting here saying, why aren’t we getting to third or sixth or whatever the numbers might be,” Cartledge said. “If we do the very basics, which is do everything as well as we possibly can do, with ambition, with excellence in the way we deliver, the way we speak to people and the behaviours of this football club, we can break through boundaries.
“Maybe you could argue that the city itself has had some of that that it needed to break through. If we look at other cities, like the Manchesters and the Birminghams, the communities have driven greater activity and growth that we’ve probably not seen as much of in Nottingham. We want the football club to be a standard-bearer of ambition in the city, and that others can follow.”
