A New Braunfels man faces multiple charges after officials say he crashed his car into the Comal River while fleeing from police officers. Responding to a report of a driver speeding through Landa Park on Thursday, officers began pursuing a silver Chevrolet Malibu , New Braunfels police said in a social media post.
New Braunfels concerned about crowds, trash along stretch of Guadalupe River The driver attempted to flee and crashed into the Comal River on Landa Park Drive, with the back end of the car sliding into the river, police said. The driver, identified as Jaime Humberto Cruz Rodriguez, continued to try to drive away after crashing, but was taken into custody, police said. Cruz Rodriguez, 25, was taken to a local hospital, where he again tried to escape, police said.
