The Alaska State Senate passed a bill commemorating late cyclist Matt Glover.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Two years ago, a cyclist was killed in a tragic accident after being struck by a car on the Richardson Highway while he was biking to work.
On Monday, February 5, the Alaska Senate approved Bill SB 129, which includes funding for the bike path and signage dedicating the bike path to Matt Glover. Senator Robert Meyers, who sponsored Bill SP 129, said he hopes naming the new bike path after Glover will “inspire Interior cyclists and foster pedestrian safety.”
Glover was an engineer for the Alaska Railroad and would bike to work whenever possible, even in the middle of the winter. He was also a longtime member of the Fairbanks Cycling Club. Matt impressed and inspired many with his dedication to biking and his friendly nature.
