Manchester United have strengthened in several departments this season, but Roy Keane and Gary Neville still have their concerns about the club
The United defender only made 12 appearances last season and has not appeared for the Red Devils since their 2-1 away victory over Luton Town in February. Despite appearing for England in the Euro 2024 quarter-final, semi-final and final, Shaw is not expected to be fit for United's Premier League opener against Fulham.
While speaking on the 'Stick to Football' podcast, Neville said: "The left back is a problem because if Shaw is out the drop off is massive. I do think they'll get into the top four if they stay clear of injuries." Rasmus Hojlund has been joined by Dutch international Zirkzee, who arrived for £36m from Bologna. While the 23-year-old is yet to make his competitive debut for the Red Devils, Keane admits he is not yet convinced the duo can score enough goals.Keane said: "It's always a worry for me about competing. I still worry about the spine of that Manchester United team. For all the nice play they have and good players, I still worry about the goalkeeper and strikers.
Injuries disrupted United's campaign last season, but their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City saw them qualify for the Europa League. Fans are particularly excited by the arrival of De Ligt, who was at the heart of Ten Hag's iconic Ajax side which reached the 2019 Champions League semi-final, reports the Mirror.
