Dante is coming back for another round as Adi Shankar's Devil May Cry series is set to drop season 2 on Netflix on May 12, 2026. The bombastic supernatural action thriller and latest installment in Shankar's Bootleg Multiverse set up plenty of adventures for the future.
The news comes via press release as well as Netflix Geeked's official X account, teasing a family reunion with a brand-new poster of Dante straight out of the Devil May Cry 3 cover. It's shaping up to be an exciting season ahead, from the Vergil tease to a more game-accurate Dante, according to Shankar. Devil May Cry Season 2 Is Coming May 12, 2026 Set to return little more than a year after its Netflix debut, Devil May Cry has plenty to work with for season 2. Vergil makes his bloody debut heralding Mundus as the one who freed him from his bondage. Baines announces to the world that Hell is indeed real. Dante was double-crossed by Lady and ultimately kept in cryogenic suspension. The first season was an interesting viewing experience for longtime fans, perhaps not used to Dante's subdued prowess. Despite this, the series embodied the audacious, loud, over-the-top style everybody knows and loves from the franchise. Shankar himself has even stated how much Dante will change going into season 2. Devil May Cry Season 2 Brings Dante Closer to His Game Form A younger, inexperienced iteration of the classic Devil May Cry character, Dante's appearance in the Netflix series was quickly noted to conceal his past trauma under his bluster. His abilities are even perceived as being"nerfed" which is addressed by Shankar as being part of a bigger plan for the series future. "Season 2 is a vvvvveryyyyy different show. Yes, Dante levels up. His skills improve and you’ll see him embrace more of the iconic badassery fans of the game expect. That said, I'm still telling a story, and great characters don’t just win — they grow. What makes Dante compelling isn’t that he’s unstoppable — it’s that he learns and keeps getting stronger."Not one to mince words when it comes to hyping up his projects, Shankar overtly speaks about Dante, his growth, and exactly what will empower him. Given that he has the opportunity to portray Dante in his varying stages of growth, and not merely the fanservice destination, fans will see in May whether Shankar and his team sticks the landing. 34 7.4/10 6/10 Devil May Cry 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-MA Animation Action & Adventure Sci-Fi & Fantasy Release Date April 3, 2025 Network Netflix Directors Park So Young Writers Alex Larsen Cast See All
