Nearly 25,000 pounds of taquito products sold at Aldi stores nationwide have been recalled because they may contain pieces of metal, U.S. officials said. The recalled product, labeled as Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos, was produced by Bestway Sandwiches Inc . – located in Valencia, California. The recall is for 20-ounce carton packages containing 'CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS,' with Best By Dates 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 on the bottom panel, according to a notice from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The product has the establishment number 'EST. P-40327' on the package. The items were shipped to select ALDI grocery stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Washington DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia. The risk of metal contamination was first discovered after Bestway Sandwiches Inc. received a consumer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen taquitos. Another consumer reported to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that they received a dental injury from the product. Approximately 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products are part of the recall, the USDA notice said. The FSIS said it's concerned that some of the recalled products may be in consumers’ freezers. Anyone who has purchased these taquitos is urged not to eat them, and instead should throw them away or return to the place of purchase.Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Bestway Foods Co.
