Although navigating rain hazards was challenging Thursday, the storms could lead to good news for our current struggle with drought in South Texas.
Friday morning will be much calmer compared to the rain-soaked Thursday we experienced when a strong Pacific front swept through. Tagging along with the front, a line of storms moved across Central and South Texas early Thursday, bringing some heavy downpours and fierce winds with gusts as strong as 40 mph north of San Antonio .
San Antonio stayed historically dry in 2024. How much rain did we get? Hint: It’s not good. Weekend weather Behind the latest storm system, Texas will shift to a more zonal weather pattern with high atmospheric pressure taking hold for the last day of January and the first weekend of February. Expect drier air and lower humidity, with cool mornings. Friday starts with temperatures in the 40s but they will warm up to the lower to mid-70s in the afternoon, with abundant sunshine.
