Twenty-nine persons have been reported to have died due to the heavy rains and floods that hit portions of the Visayas and Mindanao over the past days due to the shear line, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported on Wednesday night.

According to its 6 p.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said six deaths were recorded in Region 5, three in Region 8, two in Region 9, and 18 in Region 10. Four fatalities have been confirmed while 25 remained for validation.The NDRRMC reported a total of 105,971 families or 407,224 individuals were affected by the floods and landslides.

Damaged houses in MIMAROPA, Region 6, Region 8, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, CARAGA, and BARMM now stand at 3,291. Of these, 2,762 were partially damaged while 529 were totally damaged. Seven domestic flights in Region 5 and CARAGA were canceled, the NDRRMC reported. 11 seaports are still not operational, it added.According to the NDRRMC, the national government extended assistance worth P35,591,115.29 to the affected victims.
